Businesses were beginning to close early and employees were starting their journey home. Now when I sat back and thought about it, the whole situation, actually the whole day has yet to make any sense. But it does give me some great material for this blog!
Juno caused everyone to take action before their was even a reason to really take action. Everyone closed businesses based on a theory. A theory developed by a man or woman, that had spent day after day predicting the weather wrong. And don’t we as humans do that all the time? We start developing plans and solutions to scenarios that have yet to happen. We override our brains with analyzing every single angle and every single outcome from our supposed action. We take action before there is even a reason to take action. And I saw this again today when people are leaving work early to “beat the storm.” Let me tell you one thing, you aren’t Captain America, and you will never “beat the storm.” The storm will whoop your ass before you even have time to think about what to do. So people leave work, to “beat the storm” because they “know” things will only get worse as time passes. Really? How do you know that? I have been in situations where things only get better as time passes, especially in breakups or in stormy weather. Shocker.
The thing about storms, is that they always pass. But the thing about people, is that we lack patience. We lack the ability to wait for the storm to pass, because we are always in a rush, and for what? But if we know that the storms will pass, then why do we head right into them? Why do we leave work early when the storm is really letting loose? Why do we cancel school to put our children in even more danger as they travel home, into the storm? Why do we refuse to just let nature take it’s course and let things work out in due time?
