Earlier this week, my girlfriends, with whom I have known since grade school, decided to have our monthly girls night at a new restaurant that opened up in Latham, NY called innovo kitchen. Now when anything new comes to the Capital District it is like talk of the town for days if not the new go to hot spot. Hello… does anyone remember when Sonic opened? Yeah, avoided Route 7 for weeks!
I was super shocked to see what has taken place where the old bowling alley and the random Wendys used to sit. I know I have been back in the 518 for almost 2 years now, but I really never see a need to travel past Keeler when going down Route 7. In all of that empty space, now lies a huge, brand new plaza with tons of different shops and restaurants, innovo kitchen being one of them. I will be honest that when I walked in, I was expecting just a little bit more as far as décor, layout, and ambiance of the new restaurant, and was a tad bit disappointed. I think however, this place will be a home run when summer approached. They had a beautiful outside seating area with a fireplace and glass garage doors that will open up the whole front portion of the restaurant.
Before jumping into anything, first things first. Our waitress was, by the end of the night, our newest best friend. Her name was Laura and if you go to innovo kitchen, you must request to e seated in her section and tell her I sent you… AND TIP HER WELL! When we all finally got seated, glasses poured and conversation started, we took a look at the menu, only to see that it was going to require a lot more attention than just the brief skim that we all usually do. That’s when it was safe to say
that shit got fancy. Where were we? Paris? New York City? No, it was Latham, NY thank you very much, and even Miss Fancy Pants herself was confused. We kindly asked Laura to “dumb down” the menu to a Chili’s level LOL. Now we all like good food, but to me, good food does not have to be confusing. Cheese is cheese, bread is bread, and Taleggio melts, well duh, that’s mini grilled cheese, according to the innovo menu. And yes, because I know you have been wondering, it is innovo kitchen with a lowercase “i” and “k.”

The food was really good. Very good! Portions were really small when compared to places like Cheesecake Factory, but it was a good small. We ordered a little bit of everything x2 and then some. The prices were a little bit on the higher end, but I thought well worth it. The tater tot appetizers were amazing (they were potato and cheese filled with an aoli dipping sauce) and the cannoli chips and dip for dessert were the icing on the cake for this wonderful evening. As I may have mentioned, or it might not come as a surprise, we were by far the loudest and rowdiest table in the restaurant. I would say it is a great place to meet people for a drink after work, or just go by yourself. And I am calling it right now that this place will be packed come summertime.
Definitely visit innovo kitchen, ASK FOR LAURA and get the tater tots. I LOVE MY TOTS! And tell them AB sent you xo
