A friend of mine was going through a lot of back and forths with this one guy that she just couldn’t let go. Now I am NEVER one to tell a girl to shake a guy, but I knew where this was heading, umm duh, because I have experienced it and been down her road before, BUT this guy needed to be shaken, not stirred ha! And it was at that crucial point in my friendship with her, that I learned one of life’s greatest lessons. I learned that I needed to let her make the same mistakes I made so that she got it and she finally understand just what I had been saying. She told me that it all finally clicked, when I started telling her what his next move would be, how he would dance around the idea of being in a relationship with her, and how I would predict what he would say to her. When she saw that and heard those exact words, that I had said myself, come out of his mouth, the seatbelt clicked and she was gone.
Friendships are forever and friendships are just like any relationship. They get stronger with time and they are something that you are continuously working at. People change, but real friendships grow with the changes and real friendships make you a better person. So as I watch my little chickie leave this roosters coop, and thank God for small favors, I sit there knowing that I was the best momma hen this girl could be to one of her closest friends. But life is about learning and you can’t learn if you don’t live for yourself xo
