It has been a while since I have been a vacation, and I am not talking like a weekend vacation with girlfriends or a trip home to see Mom and Dad. I am talking like a real vacation: no cell phones, no TV, no plans, no worries. When it came to packing for this trip, I obviously waited till the last minute and found myself missing a lot of essential items that I regretted getting on the cruise ship and not having. So I thought, why not jot it down quick for ya’ll and at least provide me with some checklist next time around.

Sneakers- having just had foot surgery a little less than 4 months ago, this should have been a no brainer. Sandals are NOT comfortable, especially for long periods of time walking around on concrete or attending a 70’s dance party. Bring a pair of sneakers and don’t be afraid to wear them! So what if it looks ridiculous with your shorts or your cute maxi dress. I mean you already look ridiculous with your camera strung over your neck and your sun tan lines – admit it… you’re a tourist.

Loofah- now this I remembered to bring and I was so thankful for that! When I came back to the room from the beach or the pool, the last thing I wanted to use to get the tanning oil or sand off my body was a wash cloth or a small, pathetic bar of soap they leave in your shower. Loofah’s are just amazing in general and give that fresh start!

Selfie Stick- we ended up buying one while in Bermuda, mainly because we were tired of asking people to take pictures of us (and then again because my eyes were closed). This stick helped to make sure we took as MANY pictures together as we wanted, capturing each and every moment. We opted to spend just a little bit more to get a Bluetooth selfie stick, so that we could control when the pics were being taken (some sticks require you to download an app and have a timer that goes off as to when it will capture the pic). It was a great purchase and is sure to have many more uses during the summer.

Sweater/Cardigan- now I am always cold anywhere I go and if its hot out where you are, more than likely it’s an icebox where you are going. Warm clothes for me are a must, no matter where I am going and mainly because I always an outside, soaking up the sun and I become freezing that night. Luckily, it was cold when we left NY and I happened to grab a Northface for the train ride. I was so happy that I did. I wish that I also had brought a pair of sweats and a light sweatshirt or pull over.

Pool/beach bag- this seems obvious for a trip that is spend mainly around the pool and on the beach, but again, it was a major slip up on my part when it came to packing. I used a large Michael Kors bag that my boyfriend had bought for me in the spring to carry my main essentials, but having a pool/beach bag would of solved a lot of problems. The first problem was that I did not want to leave my MK bag by our chairs while we ran to the bar. It wasn’t the contents in the bag, but yet the bag itself that worried me. Second, I tucked the MK bag into the cuddy hole in our scooter and pulled it out to find grease all over. Not cool. At all. Luckily it was leather and I was able to get it right off with baby wipes (aka miracle wipes for any stains). Third, even though the bag was big, I just didn’t feel it could really carry all of the stuff I wanted and a lot of the stuff I didn’t want to throw in because I was worried it might stain or spill.
